You are invited to step into rest, quiet and retreat with God in our Herrnhut

 

The ‘Herrnhut’, meaning ‘the Lord’s protection or keeping’, is a contemporary shepherd’s hut nestled in the gardens of Waverley Abbey.

As you pray and retreat in the ‘Herrnhut’, walk in the gardens and Waverley Abbey ruins, or visit the Prayer Room — we hope that God will richly bless your time with peace, refreshment and revelation.

Amenities include:

  • Electric heating
  • Sink
  • Kettle, coffee and tea
  • Toilet facilities in nearby Waverley Abbey House
  • Parking

Please note:

  • No smoking
  • There are four steps up to the shepherd’s hut
  • Each booking is for a maximum of two people. If you'd like to enquire about booking for more than two people, please contact us
  • This is a space for prayer and reflection to encounter the Lord, not a workspace
  • For your safety and security, CCTV is in use outside of the hut

BOOK A RETREAT

The ‘Herrnhut’ can be booked for a half or full day, for a suggested donation towards the work of Waverley Abbey Trust – half days £15 or full days £25. Not available for overnight retreat. If you cannot afford to donate, please click on Redeem Coupon below, enter the code 100PERCENT then Apply.

Please be aware that some email servers may block the email we will send you with instruction to access the hut. If you don’t receive an email from us shortly after making your booking, please check your junk mail folder.

Additionally, please note that we occasionally have events that may be using some of the grounds and cause there to be a higher volume of visitors onsite while you are on retreat. Should that be the case, we will contact you beforehand to let you know.

Due to the popularity of the Hernhutt, we kindly ask that you only book a maximum of one slot per month (half day or day). Thank you.
