PRAYER RHYTHMS

On the site of the first Cistercian Abbey in Britain, we are developing a modern monastic community and a House of Prayer, open to the public, for all nations and generations.

Prayer Rhythms Summer Sabbatical

We are having a summer sabbatical from 1st - 31st August and there will be a break from morning, midday and evening prayer during this time. We look forward to praying with you again in September.

DAILY

Our daily prayers take place in the chapel on the first floor of Waverley Abbey House. These moments of gathering and reflection are open to students, tutors, retreat guests and staff alike.

Morning

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you." Psalm 143:8

Each day starts with the opportunity to set your heart on God. Join us in The Chapel (1st floor) for Morning Prayer, 8–8.15am.

Midday

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

At the centre of each day is an invitation to connect more deeply with God. Join us for Midday Prayer and Worship in the Chapel – a time for you to worship, pray and be replenished.

January - 1–1:15pm
February - 1–2pm

Night

"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8

As evening falls, you’re invited to Evening Prayer, 9–9.15pm – a peaceful space to rest in God’s presence and end the day with celebration and gratitude.

Our contemporary Shepherd’s Hut is nestled in the gardens of the Waverley Abbey and is available to book for half or full day retreats.

PRAYER ROOM

Situated in the heart of Waverley Abbey House, the Prayer Room is available to use for people living locally, for students and teachers at Waverley Abbey College, and for anyone visiting the house as a place of retreat.
